About the Region
This geographically diverse region of British Columbia has a warm light that Van Gogh could have only dreamed of. It is this region that captivates us with countless lakes, valleys, wild running historic rivers, orchards, vineyards and dense forests of pine, spruce and cedar. It is a place first nations have called home for almost 10,000 years. A region gold-miners trekked through in search of riches but stayed to raise cattle.
A collection of smaller cities pepper this region bringing to the area fine restaurants, theatre, music festivals and an abundance of outdoor activities such as white water rafting, horseback riding, guided fishing, boating and wildlife sightseeing.
This central interior region is actually a continuation of the Great American Desert stretching from New Mexico all the way to Central BC. Here you will see Ochre hills of clay with Sage brush, ponderosa pine and near the lakes Weeping Willows. There are several large lakes throughout the region: Shuswap, Okanagan, Skaha and Ossoyos to name a few. The Thompson Okanagan is rich in farm land, ranch land, orchards and vineyards. In the south Okanagan, the last 20 years there has seen a dramatic increase in the number of vineyards and wineries making this a destination for wine lovers.
Nowhere else will you find deserts, lake side orchards and vineyards, thousands of acres of rolling ranch land and a colourful history of train robbers, land barons, and first nations shaping your unique and local experience.
